Seagull knit kits!

Here's my first ever knit kit, Jeff the seagull! Each kit contains enough yarn, stuffing and notions to knit yourself 2 Jeffs, plus the knitting pattern, so you can make an inifinite number of Jeffs using your own DK once you've finished the kit. Each kit contains an exclusive Jeff button badge as well! Kits are £10 plus shipping, and they're available from my Etsy shop or from Venue 20 of Worthing Artists Open Houses, during the open house event in June/July.

Tropical parrots

Hands up, who'd like to knit a cuddly, colourful parrot? I've just added the pattern for this cute pair to my Etsy shop and Ravelry. They are nice, easy knit, flat on a pair of 4mm knitting needles. I used Stylecraft Special DK but you can use the DK yarn of your choice - they are a very colourful way to do a bit of stash busting!

Knitted rats

Eek! The kitchen has been invaded by knitted rats! Don't worry, they are all very friendly. They are cuddly rats that you can knit up using oddments of DK yarn - and they are knitted flat on two needles so are a nice, easy knit. The pattern is in my Etsy shop, and also available as a Ravelry download.

Knitted cockatiel

Another member of the parrot family - I'm definitely enjoying knitting parrots at the moment! This little cockatiel is currently for sale in my Etsy shop, it is hand knitted from my own pattern. If he has sold, please do get in touch, and I may be able to knit you another as a custom order.

Knitted budgies

I've been hard at work designing some new bird knitting patterns, this time exploring the exotic birds of the world. There are so many to choose from! These little knitted budgies are the latest off my needles - I'm hoping to make some more to add to my Etsy shop soon.

Knitted Rubber Ducks

Everyone needs a cuddly knitted rubber duckie in their life, don't they? Here's your chance to make a flock of your very own - my knitted rubber duck pattern is now available in my Etsy shop as an instant download. The pattern includes full instructions for a large and small duck as in the photo - and there's no reason to just stick to yellow, the pattern looks great in any colour!

Word on a wing

Here's a new bird knitting pattern - I'm very pleased with this one. It's a dove of peace and like all my patterns, it's knitted in the flat on 2 needles. I think these might be the best wings I've knitted to date - they are double-sided so can easily be posed up or down, and the whole project is a nice, simple knit. The pattern is available as a download from my Etsy shop!

The dove is an ancient symbol of peace and love in many cultures - hope these knitted doves spread a little more peace and love into your world. I'm also hoping that people will knit these white doves as an alternative to releasing the real thing at weddings or funerals (so many of the released birds end up attacked by predators or in shelters as they are unable to fend for themselves after release).

Rainbow of little birds

I knitted a rainbow of tiny little birds - if you'd like to do the same, the little bird knitting pattern is available in my Etsy shop. You can make them just like the ones in the photo, or add wire legs - instructions are included with the knitting pattern.

Knitted flamingo

Next up on my quest to knit birds from round the world - a knitted flamingo! While I was doing some research about the flamingo before I started knitting, I found out a couple of interesting facts. The pink shade of the flamingo depends on its diet - they eat shrimp and the colouring from the shrimp gives them their lovely pink hue. Flamingos in zoos have to be fed food with colouring added otherwise they would not be pink.

Also, when a flamingo loses its feather, it gradually fades away to white, so you will never be able to own a pink flamingo feather. Isn't that lovely?

No food colouring involved with my knitted flamingo - she is knitted from 100% pink merino wool. I've knitted a small flock of these and have decided to put one up for sale in my Etsy shop. I will post some photos of the whole flock soon!

Cute little bird knitting pattern

I have had so much fun recently making these little brightly-coloured birds with wire legs. They are a great way of using up any odds and ends in your stash and are super-cute! If you'd like to knit a flock of your own, the knitting pattern is now available in my Etsy shop.

If you knit these little birds and don't add the wire legs, you can attach ribbon to the top of their heads, or body, and use them as cute Easter decorations or as a mobile.

I'm going to play round with this pattern and knit a few different variations so watch this space...

Knitted blackbird

I've decided to make a limited number of knitted birds for sale on Etsy, in the run-up to my Knitted Birds book being published by Search Press in September. So here's the first one who is currently available for adoption on Etsy - a handsome male knitted blackbird.

He's approximately 20cm long from tip of the tail to tip of the felt beak. If you'd like to knit one of your own, he will be one of the patterns in my Knitted Birds book!

Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who

Here's Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor Who - you can download the knitting pattern from my Etsy shop and knit a grumpy timelord of your very own. He's about 12 inches tall, and knits up on 4mm straight needles - no knowledge of knitting in the round needed. He's got a felt waistcoat and jacket lining, and poseable arms and legs.
